An infrared linescanner (IRLS), often referred to as an infrared strip mapper, is an imaging system designed to gather large amounts of ground intelligence data in a single fly-over by a host aircraft. Several versions of the AN/AAD-5 IRLS are deployed to the U.S. Department of Defense and allies on:
- Tactical fighters (F-14 TARPS, RF-4)
- Special operations reconnaissance aircraft
- Unmanned air vehicles
