Terminal high altitude area defense (THAAD)
The precision targeting business area is responsible for the development and production of the mid-wave infrared seeker that provides homing and guidance data for the THAAD missile.
It is composed of an integrated gimbal assembly and the seeker electronics. The missile is composed of an integrated gimbal assembly and seeker electronics. The seeker is the only Endo/Exo seeker in the world today, capable of intercepting short-, medium- and intermediate- range ballistic missiles outside of and within the Earth’s atmosphere.
- Two-axis gimbal, stabilized platform
- Infrared camera assembly
- Three-element telescope
– 256 x 256 InSb (focal plane array vacuum dewar)
– Gas reservoir with fast cool-down cryostat
– Inertial measurement unit
