BAE Systems’ Manassas Semiconductor Technology Center (STC) is a world leader in the manufacture of radiation-hardened, space-qualified semiconductor devices. With a more than $65 million investment in advanced wafer fabrication equipment, the STC has a complete design, fabrication, packaging, and test facility for VLSI wafer and module development and production. The semiconductor fabrication facility features stand-alone capabilities starting from procurement of materials through fully screened and qualified mil-spec packaged components. Current and planned products include radiation-hardened 4Mb SRAM, 4Mb nonvolatile memory, RAD750 microprocessor, 250K gate focal-plane gate arrays, read out integrated circuits (ROICs), and high-density ASICs.
Our microwave activities include design and manufacture of monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs), development and production of microwave modules, and related efforts in thin-film substrates, getters, packaging, and reliability. The state–of-the-art noise, power, and frequency performance of our MMIC technologies address challenging application requirements at frequencies from 1 to 200 GHz. These capabilities are located primarily at BAE Systems’ Richard A. Reed Microelectronics Center in Nashua, New Hampshire.
BAE Systems also offers a wide variety of cooled infrared products, with capabilities that include material growth, IR detector fabrication, ROIC design, focal-plane assembly, integrated detector-dewar cooler assemblies, and test and analysis. The company also fabricates and tests fully functioning ultraviolet, solar blind detectors. These capabilities are located primarily at our facilities in Lexington, Massachusetts.
