Dewar packaging

The infrared imaging systems (IRIS) detector and dewar packaging facility is completely automated and maintained to ISO 9001 standards. The facility is designed for simultaneous production of first-, second-, and third-generation modules. The factory is a proven supplier of HgCdTe, InSb, and uncooled products, and has delivered more than 70,000 infrared detector and dewar assemblies to date.

The facility has environmental test capability and supports cryogenic systems integration of J-T cryostats, integrated cryocoolers, and thermal electric (TE) coolers. Comprehensive structural and thermal analysis is brought to each job, including examination of focal plane array (FPA) stress and thermal stability. Extensive cooler interface expertise and qualified 20-year vacuum life for each unit maintains peak operational performance with a long shelf life.

The infrared imaging systems product philosophy is:

  • Reduced technical risk, with 70 percent components standardized
  • Reduced labor cost, with identical assembly processes
  • Reduced material cost, with moderate component volumes maintained in stock
  • Reduced NRE, with automated CAD tools with embedded rules, and modularity facilitates optical interface customization

Standard Packages

DDCA 640

DDCA 640

  • Tactical dewar package
  • 37-pin MDM I/O interconnect with interface incorporated in dewar flange
  • Can accept up to 1024 x 1024 FPA
  • Uses SADA I/II compatible coolers
  • FPA is precision-mounted relative to interface flange for E-O system/ IDDCA interchangeability
DDCA 320

DDCA 320

  • Small tactical dewar package with pin field I/O interconnect interface and flex cable termination optional
  • Can accept up to 640 x 512 FPA
  • Currently uses 0.3 W and 0.5 W linear coolers, but can be used in cryostat applications
  • FPA is precision-mounted relative to interface flange for E-O system/ IDDCA interchangeability
