CATS Wargaming simulator for Joint Operations and OOTW
CATS TYR wargaming tool - When faced with the complex tasks of today’s operations in peace keeping and civil unrest as well as more military challenges, conventional staff and command training falls short. Joint military operations of today and tomorrow require a high degree of effective command, control and rapid decision making. CATS TYR is a system providing effective and dynamic training for commanders and their staff.
Application areas
Operating games at command level, CATS TYR is a Computer Assisted Exercise (CAX) system that supports both civil and military scenarios. Providing training and practice in decision making and operations, CATS TYR has been adapted to Operations Other Than War (OOTW) with special emphasis on Peace Support Operations (PSO).
Civil and military organisations can cooperate in multifunctional games played jointly with land, naval and air operations. Used in the global “Partnership for Peace” simulation network, CATS TYR provides basic data for evaluation, planning and study and also allows players to be distributed across the Internet at sites far from the game engine.
Viking exercises
The over all aim for the Viking Exercises is to enhance the cooperation between Civil, Police and Military resources in a Peace Support Operation. As a follow-up to the Exercises VIKING 99, VIKING 01, VIKING 03 and VIKING 05 in accordance with the Swedish ambitions for the Partnership for Peace Simulation Network (PSN), the Swedish Government has tasked the Armed Forces to plan and conduct an “In the spirit of Partnership for Peace” Computer Assisted Exercise.
The Aim of the Exercise is “To enhance multinational interoperability by providing a training environment that makes it possible for the involved military units and all participating organisations to reach their objectives.”
