CATS Tactical Command Training Simulator
CATS TCT Simulator - CATS TCT (Tactical Command Trainer) is a wargaming simulator supporting Brigade, Battalion and Company staffs.
The TCT provides the commanders, staff and subordinate commanders with a safe and controlled realistic synthetic environment. TCT uses the proven CATS concept; this includes out of the window projection of a simulated battlefield, simulated tactical communication using modern standard off-the-shelf technology.
The commanders can assess the tactical situation, both through computer generated tactical operational pictures, and through “out-of-the-window” ground truth 3D representations.
3D-environment
The staff unit is configured with equipment representative to true work space environment. Large screen projections present a view of the simulated area of interest. The staff may order simulated crews at any instant to move to any position desired in order to improve situation awareness and enhance the capabilities to guide and direct. The simulated units are capable of automatic detection of other units influenced by terrain, sensors, weather and the visual signature of the target unit.
The TCT performs weapon and use of force arbitration, determining whether the target is hit and specifies the damage levels of personnel, resources, sensors, ammunition, mobility, logistic capacity and much more. Artillery fire, mine warfare and Close Air Support are also simulated in a realistic and fair way in the TCT, complementary to the use of force spectrum.
After Action Review
The consequences of orders given and actions taken is assessed using the AAR module. This module uses two large screen projection systems where tactical 2D map-views and 3D-terrain situation awareness are displayed. The exercise can be replayed, at any speed with synchronized recorded communication between the staff, subordinate units and commanders together with tachtical display and situation awareness pictures. Statistics generated further help explain and analyse actions taken.
