Archerfish
The Archerfish single shot mine disposal system is a mine-seeking expendable neutraliser. Up to four times faster than conventional remotely-controlled mine disposal vehicles, Archerfish brings benefits of simplified logistics and reduced through-life costs.
ARCHERFISH
Powered by twin mid-body propulsors providing exceptional manoeuvring capabilities, Archerfish can operate in either Transit Mode for rapid movement from ship to target, or in Hover Mode during identification and destruction of target.
Following confirmation of contact as a probable mine, Archerfish is deployed via a launching cradle, which then manages the fibre optic link throughout the mission. Archerfish then uses either auto height or auto depth to approach the target area. Guidance commands are received from the platform sonar via the fibre-optic link to locate, classify and destroy the target with its directed energy warhead.
To acquire the target, Archerfish activates its short range sonar and video link, transmitting sonar imagery and video pictures back to its controller for inspection and identification. The advanced manoeuvring capabilities enable it to traverse the target to obtain images from a variety of angles providing the controller with detailed identification information.
Following confirmation of target, Archerfish is manoeuvred in place where the mine is detonated by substituting its firing chain with the directed energy warhead.
Archerfish has been selected by NAVSEA as the common neutraliser for use in airborne, shipborne and other applications.
