The Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) was designed to meet a demanding specification developed by the Royal Australian Air Force's Life Support Engineering Agency.
It utilises civilian search and rescue infrastructure to provide the military with an extremely effective and reliable location capability for downed aircrew. With a flexible design, the PLB is rugged enough to provide a modern defence force with an effective location device able to meet the demanding environmental rigours of tactical deployment.
