John Osterholz
Senior Executive for Cyberwarfare and Cybersecurity for BAE Systems in the U.S.
RESTON, Virginia — BAE Systems has named John Osterholz senior executive to lead its integrated cyberwarfare and cybersecurity business in the US. In this position, Osterholz will lead the development of solutions to defend infrastructure and government operations from attack over the Internet and to mount cyber counterattacks.
"I've spent my entire career working to assure that the people who defend the country have the information they need, when they need it, in a form that enables quick and decisive action, but today the networks that previously carried the information can become weapons themselves. It's a whole new world, and it's one in which BAE Systems is committed to playing a critical role," said Osterholz.
Osterholz previously was BAE Systems’ vice president of advanced network systems. He currently serves as Technical Council chair for the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to forming an industry-wide technical infrastructure to enable network-centric operations.
Prior to joining BAE Systems in 2004, Osterholz was the Department of Defense’s principal staff assistant for the development, oversight, and integration of C4ISR (command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) policies and programs for information superiority. He has held several leadership positions within the government, including director of C4ISR integration support, director of the Military Satellite Office, deputy director of the Defense Information Systems Agency, and assistant director of the White House Military Office. He also served as a U.S. Army officer with assignments in special operations, reconnaissance, and intelligence.
Osterholz received the Secretary of Defense Medal for Distinguished Service in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks; the Federal IT 100 award; the Presidential Rank Meritorious Executive Award; the Federal Interagency Council Leadership Award; and the White House Military Office Distinguished Service Medal.
