BAE Systems has today announced a redundancy programme for 450 jobs at its Brough site. The areas impacted include Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing and Business Support. This announcement reflects the need to ensure resource levels at the site are in line with future business demands.
BAE Systems has been seeking additional work packages and a number have been identified. They are not, however, sufficient to sustain the current number of jobs at the Brough site, which has regrettably resulted in today’s redundancy announcement.
BAE Systems stated that a transition plan is being developed to retain critical capabilities at Brough, both to preserve Hawk’s position as a leader in the market place and to position the site as a provider of advanced engineering and manufacturing services for a range of air sector programmes. The transition plan will provide an opportunity to create longer term stability for the site and reduces our dependency on Hawk.
Brough Site and Services Director Tony Arksey commented: “We recognise that this is a difficult period for all employees and their families and we will continue do everything possible to mitigate the number of job losses.”
In addition to today’s announcement concerning Brough, BAE Systems has also announced a requirement for 134 redundancies from a shared service engineering team at its Woodford site in Cheshire.
