John Whelan - HR Director, Military Air Solutions
Warton, UK - John Whelan has been appointed as HR Director of the Military Air Solutions (MAS) business of BAE Systems.
Based at Warton, Lancashire, John joins the Board of MAS to develop and implement the people and organisation aspects of the business’s transformation to meet the challenges set by the UK Government’s Defence Industrial Strategy.
John has over 20 years experience in a range of engineering and aerospace companies, joining Matra-Marconi Space (Astrium) in 1994, which became part of BAE Systems at the end of 1999.
He joined BAE Systems’ Head Office in 2001 as Human Resources Director – Resourcing and Development and later HR Director, Organisation Development and Learning. In this role his focus was on the senior leadership development and talent management.
Commenting on his appointment, John said “I am delighted to take on this role at a time when the business is preparing for significant change and look forward to working with colleagues at all levels to add real value to our business performance.”
