Brough, UK - BAE Systems has completed the seventh and final Harrier GR9 replacement rear fuselage, designed and manufactured as part of a three year £20 million programme for the UK MoD.

The contract was placed in 2004 to produce replacement Harrier rear fuselages, as part of the through-life support to the aircraft.  The delivery marks the final milestone for this contract which involved the manufacture of un-equipped rear fuselages.

Design and manufacturing activity was undertaken at Brough, supported by other BAE Systems sites across the country, including Warton, Samlesbury and Farnborough. The fuselages are being delivered to RAF stores to be immediately available when an in-service Harrier GR9 requires rear fuselage replacement.

The final fuselage is being delivered from BAE Systems at Brough in line with the baseline programme date set nearly three years ago.

The RAF’s Wing Commander Des Cook adds: "This programme increases the availability of the Harrier aircraft to the frontline squadrons right through to the planned out of service date."

Harrier GR9 is now operational in Afghanistan with capability enhanced through the rapid integration of the Advanced Targeting Sniper Pod.
