BAE Systems Nimrod test engineer Glenn Rowlinson has been named by Warrington Borough Council and the Local Education Authority as ‘Super Governor of the Year.
The annual awards are designed to recognise people for their work as school governors and Super Governor of the Year is the ultimate accolade.Glenn was nominated for his work by the school head and chair of governors at St. Peter's Primary in Warrington and for his activities as a BAE Systems Ambassador at the School. Glenn actively promoted science and engineering at St Peters, topics which are rarely studied beyond GCSE level.
Glenn said: "There are dozens of governors out there who do a sterling job year after year to ensure the smooth running of schools. I'm proud to receive this award. I'll continue to work extremely hard to help the children at St Peter's get the best education they can in the best environment possible".
Sue McWilliam, the head of St Peter's who nominated Glenn for the award said: "During his time as a governor, Glenn has organised a BAE Systems-sponsored short story competition involving three local primary schools, raised over £4,000 in just six months for the school buildings fund through organised events, promoted science and engineering in the school and worked with the probation service to carry out renovation work on school buildings."
