Hatfield, United Kingdom. - BAE Systems reports increased market interest in its 29-seat Jetstream 41 turboprop airliner and announces today two new transactions covering a total of 15 aircraft.
Eastern Airways of the UK – the world’s largest fleet operator of the Jetstream 41 with 25 aircraft - has signed new leases with BAE Systems Regional Aircraft for eleven aircraft that had originally been sub-leased to the airline by BA Connect. This new deal demonstrates the airline’s long-term commitment to the Jetstream 41 as the basis for its fleet strategy.
Eastern Airways operates 800 flights each week from airports including Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Brussels, Cardiff, Durham Tees Valley, East Midlands, Humberside, Inverness, Isle of Man, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich, Southampton, Stornoway and Wick.
Regional Aircraft has also secured a new Jetstream 41 customer, with the announcement that start-up airline EasyFly S. A. of Bogota, Colombia has leased four aircraft (msns 41086, 41091, 41092, 41093).
With over 30 years of experience in commercial aviation, the principals behind the new airline have worked for major Colombian carriers such as Avianca and AeroRepublica.
First deliveries to EasyFly will commence this month. EasyFly will link Colombia’s capital Bogota to small and mid-sized regional centres within 30-80 minutes flying time. Initial planning outlines service to more than a dozen cities including as far north as Valledupar and Corozal and to southern points: Popayan and Pasto.
The latest Colombian transaction is indicative of the interest being shown in the aircraft by operators in the Americas where Regional Aircraft expects to place a significant number of aircraft during 2007.There is also increased interest in Jetstream 41 further afield for the aircraft in a variety of different roles.
