BAE Systems Dedicates Product Support Facility Near Robins Air Force Base

22 Mar 2007 | Ref. 085

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia — BAE Systems today dedicated a new 6,000-square-foot facility near Robins Air Force Base to support and upgrade U.S. Air Force equipment and software. The BAE Systems Readiness and Sustainment Center is located 5 miles west of the Air Force base in the Advanced Technology Park, 132 Osigian Blvd.

The center provides product life-cycle support services that include software upgrade development, depot support, and performance-based logistics (PBL). PBL is a Department of Defense strategy that optimizes total system availability while minimizing cost and logistics footprint.

Ceremony participants included Steve Williams, chairman of the Warner Robins Chamber of Commerce; Bill Stembridge, district director for U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss; and Hobby Stripling, district director for U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall.

“As pressure to limit defense spending increases, the military is increasingly looking for ways to maintain and upgrade existing systems and equipment,” said Dave Ferrell, BAE Systems business development director for Readiness and Sustainment in Merrimack, New Hampshire. “Opening this facility in such close proximity to Warner Robins Air Logistics Center will enable BAE Systems to provide its customers with more effective and efficient life-cycle support and equipment upgrades.”

Establishment of the Warner Robins facility follows BAE Systems’ signing of partnership agreements in 2006 with the Air Force Logistics Center in Ogden, Utah, and the Tobyhanna Army Depot in northeast Pennsylvania. The company plans to open additional sustainment centers to support the nation’s warfighters.
