BAE Systems names Douglas Belair as President of Technology Solutions and services; reorganizes business unit

ROCKVILLE, Md. BAE Systems has named Douglas Belair as president of the companys Technology Solutions and Services (TSS) unit, a leading provider of integrated technical and professional service solutions to the U.S. Government. He will be based in Rockville, Md., and will lead an organization that employs nearly 6,500 people at more than 50 locations in the U.S.

TSS is the U.S.-based technical services business of BAE Systems. Its capabilities span a full suite of tailored solutions and services to support the U.S. Department of Defense, Federal civilian government, and homeland security markets -- including systems engineering and technical assistance, sub-systems integration, operations and maintenance, and logistics.

TSS recently reorganized from five lines of business into three larger, more strategic organizations Systems Engineering Solutions, Integrated Technical Solutions, and Ordnance Systems to better reflect its customers changing mission requirements.

Dougs leadership skills, background in the services market, and successes in growing other organizations in the company were key factors in his appointment, said Marshall Banker, president, BAE Systems Customer Solutions. Doug has also been successful in establishing a long term strategic vision and improving the program and financial performance of his core business.

TSS has been very successful by providing innovative solutions and customer support generating levels of customer satisfaction largely unmatched by anyone else in the industry. The reorganization of TSS will position us to grow within the industry, so we can play a vital role assisting our current and new customers meet their future requirements, Banker added.

Belair joined BAE Systems in 2002 and became vice president of the Undersea Warfare Systems Integration Division in February 2003. In August 2004, he was appointed to his most recent position as vice president and general manager of the Performance Based Solutions line of business, where he provided leadership and overall management for the companys U.S. and U.K. Trident Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) programs.

Belair began his career in 1979 with General Electric (GE) as a software engineer on the FBM Strategic Guidance program. Subsequently, he held a number of engineering and management positions with GE, Lockheed Martin, and General Dynamics.

Belair holds a bachelors degree in Computer Science from Fitchburg State College in Massachusetts and an MBA from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. He and his wife, Sue, reside in Ijamsville, Maryland.
