BAE Systems’ Crew Systems Engineer Sara Pullen is making the most of her status as Young Female Engineer of the Year, after starring in the latest TV ad for Blackpool and the Fylde College.
Sara, who is based at BAE Systems in Warton, was invited to star in the recruitment advert which will showcase the college’s big success stories and the achievements of some former students in their specialist fields.
Sara’s current role in the Head Equipment Assembly (HEA) team, involves the development and qualification of various components of the helmet that will be flown on the Typhoon aircraft. In the advert, Sara talks about her qualification and how it has helped her develop as an engineer at BAE Systems.
She is also joined by other high-fliers including Paul Plews, a national award winning photographer, Luke Oldfield, a tutor from the Regional Gaming Academy, Gwen Biviano, manager of a nursery in Lytham and Des Coope, the Chief Inspector of Blackpool Constabulary who is raising standards within the force.
Sara explains: “As part of my work as an ambassador for Engineering this year, I am keen to promote the profession to other young people, especially women. I think it is really important that people know what learning and career opportunities are available to them and I hope the advert will help drive home that message. It is an honour to have been asked to help promote the College and I’m really looking forward to seeing the ad on TV!”
The advert will be aired in the last week of May and a week in August throughout the whole of the Granada region.
