BAE Systems employees in Portsmouth took on the three peaks challenge last weekend (17/18 June) and raised over £3000 for the Tenovus Cancer Charity.
BAE Systems Integrated Systems Technologies (Insyte) supported Simon Toms and Ash Hiom who were part of a team by giving them £250 towards their fund raising for the local branch of the Tenovus Society and supplying T-Shirts and baseball caps. The team climbed the highest peaks in Wales (Snowdon), England (Scaffell Pike) and Scotland (Ben Nevis) in 22 hours 32 minutes (including travelling time).
After the challenge, Simon Toms said: “Apart from a few aches and pains, and a couple of blisters, life is good. We are all feeling a terrific sense of achievement and, (once the blisters subside), will look back at the event with great memories. We were very happy to be able to raise such a good amount for Tenovus with support from BAE Systems.”
Tenovus was challenging fit, adventurous teams of six to eight people, to climb the UK’s three highest peaks in a demanding 24-hour endurance test to raise a minimum sponsorship fee of £1500 per team.
