BAE Systems today announced that Mark Ronald, Chief Operating Officer, and President and Chief Executive Officer of BAE Systems Inc., will retire at the end of 2006, and named Electronics & Integrated Solutions (E&IS) Operating Group President Walt Havenstein to succeed him.
Havenstein will begin his duties Jan. 2, 2007.
Havenstein will continue to serve on the Company’s Executive Committee and will also be appointed as an executive director of BAE Systems plc on Jan. 2, 2007.
Havenstein has served as E&IS President since that operating group was formed in June 2005. Prior to that, he was the executive vice president for BAE Systems North America at Rockville, Md., from Sept 2003 to June 2005. BAE Systems North America was the predecessor headquarters for U.S. – based BAE Systems operations prior to the stand up of BAE Systems Inc. in June 2005.
Before that, Havenstein was President of the Information and Electronic Warfare Systems (IEWS) business unit, with headquarters at Nashua, N.H. He has been involved with the defense industry for 23 years, following active duty service in U.S. Marine Corps.
BAE Systems also announced the retirement of Michael Lester, Group Legal Director. Lester will be succeeded by Phillip Bramwell, who will be the Group Legal Director and legal advisor to the Board.
