BAE Systems, Strategic Data Systems and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have implemented a Mentor-Protg Agreement approved by DHS and the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.
Being selected as part of the Department of Homeland Securitys Mentor Protg Program is a great honor for our company, said Jim Christopher, president of Strategic Data Systems (SDS), a small business in San Diego. It is true validation of SDS emergence in the information technology and engineering sectors. We look forward to building on our past success and evolving under the programs guidance.
Under the three-year agreement, BAE Systems will provide technical assistance to SDS related to joint initiatives and business opportunities and provide training related to program management, business processes and practice. The activities will raise SDS technical capabilities while further developing the firms general business management practices and enhancing the companys value to customers.
We welcome SDS to our team, said Bill Ballhaus, president, National Security Solutions for BAE Systems. Our objectives are to provide a winning relationship for the protg, the mentor and the DHS, and to assist our protg in successfully competing for prime contract and subcontract awards.
The DHS mentor-protg program is designed to encourage large business prime contractor firms to provide mutually beneficial developmental assistance to various small businesses including: women-owned, veteran-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned, HUB Zone, and small disadvantaged.
