BAE SYSTEMS To Broadcast “Live Feed” From Titan 385 turret Into Mi-17 Cockpit At FI2004

21 Jul 2004

BAE Systems Avionics Group will this week use a Titan 385 Multi Sensor Turret located on top of its exhibition chalet to beam images direct from the flight demonstrations at Farnborough International into the cockpit of its “mocked-up” Mil Mi-17 helicopter on its exhibition stand.

The Mi-17 cockpit is on display as part of BAE Systems Avionics Groups efforts to win avionics upgrades orders for both fixed wing and rotary platforms. The Titan 385 multi sensor turret is part of the avionics upgrade package being offered to customers.

Matthew Harvey, Business Development Executive, said: “Having live images beamed into the cockpit of our Mi-17 demonstrator at Farnborough brings a new dimension to FI2004.”

“BAE Systems’ Titan 385 system has already been purchased by the UK MoD. Titan 385 is the low risk solution for customers given the number of predecessor units already in service on a wide range of overseas platforms. The Titan 385 vertically integrates BAE Systems detector and camera into the Turret.”

“The Titan 385 Multi Sensor Turret System has been developed as a common standard flexible solution, for use in the airborne environments of both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. It is designed to meet the current and future operational requirements for a Multi Sensor Surveillance/Observation Aid. The Titan 385 has already been purchased by the UK MoD for its Hercules fleet.”
