Since its official opening in March 2003, the BAE Systems Battlespace Management Evaluation (BME) Centre located in Farnborough, United Kingdom, has established a firm reputation as a world-class, high quality visualisation and experimentation hub.
The BME Centre plays an integral role in supporting project teams to develop complex network enabled solutions and is used by BAE Systems, its joint ventures, partners and customers, offering visualisation and experimentation, demonstration and consultancy services.
Mo Stevens, Director - BAE Systems C4ISRs Networked Systems & Solutions business, said Collaborative working is key to the success of the BME Centre. Customer projects demand the integration of capabilities across platforms and systems. To address these needs, the BME Centre utilises products and expertise from across BAE Systems, its partners and C4ISR Groups portfolios.
The Centre has added value to some major proposals. For instance, the Groups FALCON bid was supported by a BME Centre demonstration of the proposed technical solution in the wider Battlespace context. This involved integrating the BOWMAN communications system model and other information systems to present a realistic scenario.
During the past year, the C4ISR Group has worked with many organisations, including NITEworks (the UK MoD/Industry partnership), industry partners, and BAE Systems business units and Joint Ventures.
In addition the BME Centre has played an important role in briefing international visitors on the benefits of working together and integrating systems world-wide to achieve common objectives. Central to its success is the teams engineering and functional expertise, and facilities management. This supports the design and delivery of effective experiments and demonstrations to varied and challenging audiences.
