BAeHAL, a joint venture between BAE Systems and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd of India, has been certified as SEI CMM Level 5 compliant by KPMG and as BS7799 compliant by the authoritative Indian Government agency.
KPMG carried out the audit of BAeHAL during January 2004, certifying it as a SEI CMM Level 5 company. This reflects improvements across the full range of the companys engineering capabilities since the award SEI CMM level 4 organisation in June 2002.
BAeHAL has moved up the maturity level from a well managed to an optimising organisation, with focus on continual improvement. This is facilitated by quantitative feedback from the process and through the deployment of innovative technologies.
Defect prevention, technology change management and process change management groups ensure a high level of quality, with an ability to adapt to emerging technologies and processes to deliver products of contemporary standards.
Standardisation, Testing and Quality Certification (STQC) Services, Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India, conducted a successful audit of BAeHAL for compliance to BS7799, an internationally recognised standard for Information Security Management Systems, during January 2004.
Phill Blundell, Group Managing Director, C4ISR has said, This ensures that BAeHAL has the requisite security related processes for information as well as physical security in place to assure a high level of confidentiality and security for all customer-supplied information and data. The company has also developed a comprehensive Disaster Management Plan to ensure continuity of operations in an emergency. BAeHAL is only the 17th company in India to achieve this certification and, worldwide, a mere 300 organisations have this certification.
