BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has signed an agreement with Irelands CityJet for the lease of an additional BAe 146-200. The aircraft will be delivered in mid-October.
Together with a further BAe 146 aircraft it has acquired, CityJets BAe 146 fleet will shortly number 14 aircraft, seven of which are already leased from BAE Systems Regional Aircraft.
Cityjet, owned by Air France, uses BAe 146 aircraft with great success providing good value high class flights under a franchise agreement with the French flag carrier.
Carrying one million passengers per year and with 90% of its operations from the French Capital, CityJet operates five franchise routes on behalf of Air France between Paris CDG and Dublin, London City, Edinburgh, Gothenburg and Florence, wet lease operations, and a code share service from Dublin to Malaga.
Cityjet launched Cityjet.com to the general public earlier this year catering for the Costa Del Sol market and offers direct access to Cityjet flights on the popular Dublin-Malaga route with five direct services per week.
The newly acquired aircraft will be operated on behalf of Air France between Paris and Zurich. From the start of the winter season CityJet will also resume services on the Dublin-London City route, the airlines first route when it commenced operations ten years ago.
The airlines expansion during the past decade has been built around the
BAe 146 regional jet which with its wide comfortable cabin has proven popular with
passengers and profitable for the airline.
Mr Geoffrey O'Byrne-White, Chief Executive, CityJet, said: We are very pleased with the addition of these two new aircraft, which represents the further consolidation of our BAe 146 fleet. This allows both for optimum aircraft integration, essential to the flexibility of our operating schedule, while streamlining the training requirements of all crew. We are very happy to continue this close co-operation with BAE Systems.
