BAE Systems employee, Heidi Castle, working at the Advanced Technology Centre, Filton, has undertaken work in close co-operation with RAF Lyneham to investigate methods of testing task workload. Heidi spent 3 weeks working with RAF pilots, engineers, navigators and loadmasters, measuring perceived workload using different techniques. The twenty-one RAF employees gave their time and effort voluntarily to assist in this work. The results of the work will be used to improve the design of innovative and novel equipment in the future. In gratitude for the RAF's invaluable contribution BAE Systems have donated 1000 to RAF Lyneham's nominated charity, St Nicholas' School.
BAE Systems is pleased to undertake such activities, which are in line with its charitable giving policy. BAE Systems Chief Executive, Mike Turner, says: "We take seriously our responsibilities to our people, our communities and the societies where we operate around the world. Corporate social Responsibility - the management of our social and environmental issues - has a very high priority in our company."
As part of Charity Challenge, last year BAE Systems donated 1.2 million to charity. Additionally BAE Systems employees raised more than 4 million in charity fund raising events and gave 2,382 days of their own time to assist charities.
