The Flight Systems operation of BAE Systems North America is one of the first U.S. aerospace companies to receive AS 9100 certification from BSI, Inc.
BSI, Inc. representatives today presented the certificate of registration in ceremonies at Flight Systems' Mojave, California facility.
The AS 9100 standard, based on the ISO 9001:2000 standard, provides for additional requirements that are specific to the aerospace industry. It is a quality management system to help ensure that all aspects of the design, manufacture and support of aerospace products meet their design specifications and intended functions. AS 9100 certification is also becoming a requirement to do business in today's global marketplace.
Flight Systems provides military and commercial aircraft modification, aircraft operations, flight test, and aerial subscale and full-scale targets. "Our customers rely absolutely on the quality of our products and services for their multimillion-dollar aircraft, so our performance must always be nothing less than outstanding," said Dan Ferns, Flight Systems' Director of Quality Assurance. "This certification shows that we can meet our customers' most demanding standards."
To be certified, the BAE Systems operation had to meet stringent Quality Management System requirements. The Mojave-based unit previously achieved registration requirements of the ISO 9000:1994 standards.
"With this certification, BAE Systems demonstrates its continued commitment to providing products, services and solutions of the highest quality, and its commitment to being a leader in the aerospace industry," said Ronald D. Mathis, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales at BSI, Inc. who presented the certificate. BSI, Inc. is a leading management systems registrar with headquarters in Reston, Virginia.
