New business for BAE SYSTEMS Regional Aircraft

02 Oct 2002

The Asset Management team of BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has secured new leasing and trading business across the range of its aircraft portfolio.

These transactions have been won despite a volatile and difficult aircraft trading market and consist of:

  • CityJet, the Irish-based, Air France owned regional carrier is leasing one BAe 146-200 (E2058). This aircraft was previously operated by Malm Aviation and following customisation to the Air France specification will be delivered at the end of October.
  • West Air Sweden is leasing one ATP (2043) to add to its existing fleet of eight ATP freighters. Delivered at the end of September, this aircraft marks the continued commitment to the ATP announced by the airline at Farnborough International 2002. Initially the aircraft will be deployed by West Air Sweden in the passenger charter market in Scandinavia, but could in the longer term, be a candidate for conversion to freighter configuration.
  • Origin Pacific Airways, New Zealand's independent airline, is expanding its Jetstream fleet accepting the first of three additional Jetstream 32EPs (946, 968, 969) this month. Based at Nelson, South Island, Origin Pacific also operates five Jetstream 41s on its own provincial network and offers code sharing services on behalf of Australia's Qantas Airways. The three Jetstream 32EP will join the five Jetstream 41s enrolled in the BAE Systems Material and Component Repair and Overhaul (MACRO) programme.
  • Svenska DirektFlyg A.B. (formerly Skyways Regional A.B. formerly Highland Air A.B.) has leased an eighth Jetstream 32 (864) from BAE Systems for three years. The 19-seater launched services on 16th September on the carrier's network within Sweden. All of DirektFlyg's Jetstream 32s are enrolled in the BAE Systems MACRO programme.
  • Canadian operator Northwestern Air Lease Ltd recently purchased two Jetstream 31s (768, 789) to expand its scheduled and charter network based in Ft. Smith, NWT, serving Fort McMurray, Fort Smith and Yellowknife.
