Eastern Airways of Humberside, UK, has accepted two more Jetstream 32s (Serial Numbers 970, 977) from BAE Systems Aircraft Services Group and has extended leases on five additional Jetstream 32s (Serial Numbers 835, 836, 840, 845, 847). Now the largest Jetstream operator in Europe with ten aircraft, Eastern Airways will introduce the additional aircraft to its operation this month.
Based at Humberside Airport, Eastern serves seven UK destinations carrying approximately 9,000 customers a month. The arrival of the new Jetstreams will see Eastern’s weekly seat capacity rise from 3,780 seats on 210 rotations to 4,700 seats on 264 services. Both aircraft will feature the carrier’s trademark all-leather business class seating.
“Eastern Airways’ operation is a visible example of utilizing the Jetstream’s flexibility. Flying in both a regional airline configuration and corporate layout, the Jetstream aircraft fosters an airline’s diversity in scheduled and charter services,” says Michael Canzian, BAE Systems Senior Vice President-Asset Management Turboprops.
“The low operating cost of the Jetstream 32 offers Eastern an excellent opportunity to further develop new and existing markets, while maintaining the highest standards in passenger service and comfort,” notes Eastern Airways Managing Director Richard Lake.
Eastern Airways operates from Aberdeen to: East Midlands; Norwich; Teesside and Humberside, and from Norwich to Edinburgh and Manchester.
Richard Lake added "The high frequency Jetstream 32 services provides Eastern with a unique advantage in offering its passengers point-to-point services such as Teesside-Aberdeen or Norwich-Edinburgh. “Offering 28 daily flights through Aberdeen makes us the second largest scheduled operator at the Scottish base after the British Airways group. We are also now the number one airline at Norwich Airport with up to 11 daily departures.”
The newly formed BAE Systems Aircraft Services Group offers customers the total support solution with worldwide experience in regional aircraft manufacturing, leasing, trading and support services.
