Gripen is flying at Paris, and has just underlined its operational capability in Poland. Two single-seat SAAB-BAE Systems Gripen swing-role fighters have successfully demonstrated their ability to interoperate with NATO and other international forces during a dispersed operations defence exercise with the Polish Air Force.
The Swedish Air Force fighters operated alongside Polish MiG-29, MiG-21 and Su-22 and Iskra aircraft.
And the new generation fighter has also completed its first flights fitted with full colour cockpit displays and a digital emergency instrument presentation.
Gripen is the first fighter aircraft to replace the traditional analogue emergency flight instrumentation with digital images, which are incorporated into the large, multi-function display system.
* Gripen is in service with the Swedish Air Force, which has ordered 204 aircraft (including 28 two-seaters) and has been ordered by the South African Air Force, which has a requirement for 28.
