BAE SYSTEMS Announces Key Appointments

BAE Systems, the global systems, defence and aerospace company today announced a number of key appointments.

Michael Kipp has been appointed engineering director for International Partnerships and Planning.

Engineering expertise is a critical resource for both BAE Systems and its international partnerships - Alenia Marconi Systems, Matra BAE Dynamics, Thomson Marconi Sonar, Astrium, Saab and STN Atlas. A key aspect of Mr Kipp's role will be to ensure the best utilisation of engineering resources across the company and its international partnerships.

He will optimise the engineering interfaces between all the companies and champion the use of best practice engineering tools, techniques and processes to maximise the performance of BAE Systems and its international partnerships.

Meanwhile, Chris Boardman, managing director Harrier, Tornado, and US Military Programmes has taken overall responsibility for activities associated with the Ministry of Defence's Smart Acquisition process - formerly known as the Smart Procurement Initiative.

Denis Lidstone has been appointed director for UK Smart Acquisition Implementation, reporting to Chris Boardman. He will be responsible for all activities associated with the implementation of UK MoD’s Smart Acquisition. He will also ensure the establishment and maintenance of all the necessary interfaces and contact points with MoD policy bodies, trade associations and industry/supplier bases, to ensure effective execution of Smart Acquisition.

Smart Acquisition, is of fundamental importance to the UK defence sector and BAE Systems is committed to supporting MoD in its successful rollout.
