British Army Bulldog - FV432 Infantry Carrier
The UK Defence Industrial Strategy recognises that the UK needs to sustain key skills if it is to support and upgrade the Armed Forces equipment.
Land Systems has over 600 engineers, plus other staff, working on fighting vehicle design, build, integration, support and upgrade, It also draws upon wider BAE Systems resources.
Retaining these skills is also vital to be able to respond quickly and effectively to urgent operational requirements (UORs). Land Systems has carried out over 80 UOR modifications to in-service UK armoured fighting vehicles (AFVs) in the last two years, most to protect the lives of our troops.
That work, and our close links with the British Army on ongoing support and upgrade, means we have a real understanding of the needs of our front line troops. We are evolving the way we support and upgrade UK AFVs under a partnering agreement with the UK MOD to provide more capable and reliable military capability at lower cost. Bulldog, the recently-upgraded FV432 infantry carrier, is a case in point.
