Seize Your Leadership
The program’s objective is to facilitate the growth of an individual's leadership skills. There are three essential components to engineering leadership: academic and technical excellence, a "can do" work attitude over a breadth of areas, and superior teamwork and people skills. In order to nurture people and team skills, a week-long leadership conference and several seminars, including Quarterly Upper Management Business Perspectives, are held at various times throughout the program.
Through leadership training, participants:
• Practice and hone presentation skills
• Practice group and teamwork skills
• Learn about their own communication and leadership style
• Develop situational awareness and emotional intelligence
• Develop conflict management and resolution skills
• Learn how to effectively motivate and lead a team to success
Leadership Activities
The ELDP offers various types of leadership experience.
Leadership Development Conference (LDC)
Annually, BAE System’s leadership development programs (including Engineering - ELDP, Finance - FLDP, Human Resource - HRLDP and Operations - OLDP) hold a Leadership Development Conference (LDC). This is a weeklong conference held at an off-site training center. Through ropes courses, adventure activities, projects, and other activities, participants learn team building and leadership skills important to BAE Systems.
Other Required Leadership Training
In addition to the skills learned during the annual LDC, ELDP participants receive leadership training on topics such as emotional intelligence, teamwork, personal effectiveness, partnering, communication, and how to be an effective leader.
