Rules and Requirements

Basic Rules of Eligibility

I. Employee Eligibility:

The Employee Referral Program (ERP) is open to all regular full-time and part-time BAE Systems employees.  Where referral bonuses are offered, employees are eligible to receive payment with the exception of

  • employees in positions at Global Grade 14 or above level
  • hiring managers for positions being filled by their own referrals, as well as in areas where they influence the hiring decision
  • employees who refer a candidate and then are involved in the hiring process specific to that referral
  • employees who are enrolled in the BAE Systems Inc. Management Incentive Compensation Program
  • Human Resources/Recruiting personnel
  • Contract employees may submit referrals but are ineligible for award payments

II. Candidate Eligibility:

Referrals will be accepted for all candidates, with the exception of

  • Former employees, contractors or temporary staff with less than one (1) year since their separation from any BAE Systems Business, or persons returning from leave of absence, or rehired from furlough or reassignment lists.
  • Current employees, contractors or temporary staff working for any BAE Systems Business.BAE Systems staffing organizations reserve the right to consider submittals for all open positions regardless of ERP award eligibility.

BAE Systems reserves the right not to pursue a referred candidate if the eventual employment of said candidate would constitute a conflict of interest with a customer or supplier and be detrimental to the best interests of the corporation or Business.

Candidate referrals will remain valid for a period of six (6) months.

III. Referral Award Eligibility:

The employee who refers a candidate must be the source of the candidate's contact with the BAE Systems' recruitment staff. The referring employee must complete the following steps:

1. Make direct contact with the referred candidate.
2. Secure a current resume.
3. Submit the candidate through the ERP program prior to the candidate's interview.

Managers/Supervisors may submit referrals; however they are not eligible for awards for new hires that fall within their immediate or indirect span of control.

Referring employees may not take part in the interview process. Such action would render them ineligible for award.

Generally, referrals will be honored on a "first received" basis, where the source and date can be clearly identified. Occasionally duplicate referrals are received, including referrals from other locations and/or Businesses. In cases where the "first received" cannot be clearly identified, Human Resources/Recruiting will be the sole arbitrator for determining award payment(s) and may elect to split awards if deemed appropriate.

IV. Award Eligibility and Payment:

1. Individual BAE Systems businesses will determine the amount of awards, payment schedule, and which positions are eligible for awards. (See individual Operating Group pages for specifics) Each BAE Systems requisition posting will indicate if the position is eligible for an award and the amount. (Review career opportunities at "Make a Referral")   Recruiters and/or HR designates will be responsible for reviewing the accuracy of eligibility and award amounts for each position.1

2. Awards are paid for referrals who are hired and commence employment with BAE Systems.2

3. The referring employee and the individual who was referred must be active BAE Systems employees (at the time of award) in order for an award to be paid.

4. Individual businesses may elect to offer additional awards and incentives; which might include awards to be paid for scheduled interviews, and/or quarterly/annual awards.

5. Employee referral awards will not be approved retroactively.

1. At the time of the award, amounts will be subject to verification by Human Resources and/or Operational Management of the hiring business.
2. Each hired referral will result in one (1) entry into prize drawing subject to published rules of eligibility for the particular event.
