Combat Aircraft

Combat aircraft are designed primarily for attacking other aircraft (air superiority/fighter aircraft) and for attacking ground targets (interdictor strike/bomber aircraft).

Modern combat aircraft such as the Eurofighter Typhoon are 'swing-role' - meaning that they can carry out both air superiority and interdictor strike missions without having to land to re-arm. Typhoon will be the cornerstone of NATO defence capability for the next four decades.
