Barrow-in-Furness

BAE Systems Submarine Solutions main office is in Barrow-in-Furness, designated as a submarine centre of excellence. The Devonshire Dock Hall at the Barrow site is where the Astute Class of Submarine is being constructed.

Filton

BAE Systems Submarine Solutions have people based in Bristol, co-located with a major sub-contractor, in this case Strachan and Henshaw (S&H). The purpose behind BAE Systems being on site and being part of the Weapons Handling and launchers Systems Integrated Project Team (IPT) is to work across interfaces with S&H, the MoD IPT, in order to achieve overall WHLS and Countermeasures Acceptance Stage 1, 2 and 3.

Derby

BAE Systems Submarine Solutions  personnel are co-located on the Rolls Royce site, working with them to manage the design and build of the propulsion system. The propulsion system comprises of the NSRP and the recently acquired propulsor.

Farnborough/Ash Vale

BAE Systems Submarine Solutions personnel based in Farnborough are responsible for the provision of the Combat System for the Astute Class build, the programme, integration and inter-dependencies of the S&T (Swiftsure & Trafalgar) Class Final Phase Update programme, and the management of S2076 contract for S&T refit.

Staff at Ash Vale are responsible for management, planning and conducting integration activities for S&T and Astute in the SMSISC (Submarine Systems Integration and Support Centre).

Additionally, staff at both sites carry out key roles in the Submarines Design Authority team.

Waterlooville

BAE Systems Submarine Solutions on behalf of the MOD, provide technical data to FAST Training Services Limited from the Weymouth site. Staff are also associated with integration of NGNPP (Next Generation Nuclear Plant) and safety related technology initiatives with future submarine platforms and Boat 4+ programme,  Platform Design and Product Verification Manager and Ship Safety Operability Management in the areas of Certification and Safety.

Weymouth

BAE Systems Submarine Solutions at Weymouth provides a centre of excellence for all aspects of Submarine Combat System Engineering. A highly skilled team provides the key disciplines required for Combat Systems acquisition, installation, trials, in-service support and capability enhancement.

The Platform Installation Engineering Group who provide the physical realisation of the Combat System supports the Submarine Combat System Engineering team. These two teams are responsible for the delivery of effective combat system solutions.
