The interception geometry of an air target engagement by a fragmenting warhead weapon is not easily visualised so an interactive graphical computer code, VISIFRAG3D, was developed to assist concept designers.
This tool allows the user to easily manipulate a limited number of engagement parameters together with a simple conical fuze and fragmenting warhead. Fragment impact points on the target can be displayed, and these can be colour coded to represent impact velocity or impact obliquity if required. The code is used by weapon designers to investigate fusing strategies and by aircraft survivability analysts to investigate spacing of duplicate components.
