For over sixty years, we have been providing ultra-reliable security and survivability products to the U.S. government and military, homeland security, allied military forces, and defense contractors, continually researching and investing in cutting edge technologies in order to provide the very best value and performance for our current and future customers.
Security & Survivability focuses on the following areas:
Vehicle armoring:
- We provide armor integration, armor kits, components, and accessories for tactical wheeled vehicles, combat vehicles, commercial vehicles and construction equipment.
- We have provided armor protection for over 20,000 HMMWVs; over 3,500 MRAPs; and 13,000 commercial armored vehicles to national and international governments. These are just a few of the many vehicle programs we have supported.
- Our components (such as BPMTU, GPK, door assist systems) are used on many of the major vehicle platforms produced by other defense contractors.
Material technology:
- We are the leader in development and production of lightweight materials, including composites, ceramics, and transparent armor technologies.
- These products are integrated not only into our own products but those of other major defense contractors.
- BAE Systems is the exclusive manufacturer of Tensylon®, a lightweight ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (PE) material produced with solid state extrusion technology.
Solider protection:
- Our products include the latest designs in individual equipment systems that include body armor, helmets, load-carrying equipment and aircrew survivability.
- We are focused on the future of the warfighter and we continue to integrate new technologies into our products to create modular platforms that are scalable to meet the changing needs in the battlefield.
- We have fielded over 1.5 million MOLLE sets, over 822,000 OTVs and IOTVs, in excess of 585,000 helmets and close to 780,000 SAPI and ESAPI plates.
Occupant protection:
- We manufacture aircraft armor, seating systems, air bag systems and restraints.
- Using advanced technologies related to occupant restraint, armor protection and seating systems, we apply them to both commercial and military applications to protect occupants of surface vehicles and aircraft.
- Our capabilities have afforded us approximately 80 percent of the restraint systems used in Formula 1 automobile racing and sixty percent of NASCAR restraints.
The evolving threats faced by today’s military forces have made the quality of security and survivability products more important than at any other time in history. We are dedicated to meeting those threats with innovative armor solutions and a variety of protective products that enable warfighters to accomplish their missions safely.
