Heavy Tactical Vehicle Armor
BAE Systems designs and produces Add on Armor (AOA) kits for a variety of Heavy Tactical Vehicles. This includes M915, TAM and HEMTT/PLS family of vehicles.
M915 A3/A5 Truck Kit
At the U.S. Army's request Daimler Trucks North America developed a major block upgrade of the M915A3 cab and chassis to the M915A5 configuration. BAE Systems Cincinnati in partnership with Daimler designed an A and B-Kit Long Term Armor Strategy (LTAS) for the M915A5. The A Kit consists of a ballistics firewall and under carriage armor. The B kit consists of field installed and removable ballistics panels that interface with the A kit to provide maximum protection to the crew and prevent damage to the vehicle from the weight of the armor.
TAM (Tanker Armored Module) Kit
The TAM program is an armor kit that fits on the back of Oshkosh’s Tanker Truck and provides ballistic protection for the rear control panel. BAE Systems has produced over 700 of these kits since 2005 and have an excellent record of on time delivery.
HEMTT/PLS (Palletized Load System)
The HEMTT/PLS family includes several special purpose vehicles that incorporate BAE Systems armor. These Armor Kits with Appliqué provide 360 degree perimeter protection against assault rifles, IEDs, overhead fragmentation and anti-tank mines. An optional Gunner Shield (GS) or Gunner Protection Kit (GPK), based on the M1114 weapon station, is available for extra troop protection.
