Insensitive Munitions
Land Systems seeks to exploit future technological advancements by the application of open architectures in the design of all current and future products.
The company maintains technology awareness by actively participating in the advancement of critical leading edge technologies through technology demonstrator programmes, privately funded research and development programmes and collaborative research with third parties.
An open scaleable vetronics architecture offers stretch potential by providing the capability to replace and add subsystems. The choice of the right material and configuration for the base vehicle structure permits the installation of the new appliqué armours to counter emerging threats. Layered and modular software architectures minimise the impact of hardware obsolescence.
Insensitive Munitions
Land Systems is the first company in the world to manufacture and market high volume cast PBX Insensitive Munitions technology. Insensitive Munitions offer much greater safety through the life of the ammunition system, greatly reducing the response to credible accidental threats.
Land Systems has made significant investment in Insensitive Munitions technologies over the last ten years, applying a concurrent systems approach to product design and the development of production capability and capacity.
Electric (E) Armour
E-armour can provide vehicle protection at about half the weight of conventional armour solutions. It represents a key option in achieving high levels of protection for a C-130 transportable vehicle that needs high levels of protection. It is therefore considered a key enabling technology for Future Rapid Effect System (FRES), which requires some variants to be C-130 transportable in order to achieve Rapid Effect.
Mine Protection Technology
The application of modelling and materials technology in light armoured vehicles has ensured that Land Systems is recognised as a world leader in the mine protection technology that has been successfully applied to thousands of vehicles in service with the UN peacekeeping forces and other forces throughout the world.
