Aaron J. Penkacik

Aaron Penkacik is chief technology officer for the Electronics & Integrated Solutions (E&IS) operating group of BAE Systems, and vice president of Advanced Systems & Technology (AS&T), a function of E&IS. He leads the group’s work to identify, develop, and demonstrate new technology opportunities, overseeing company and government-funded research and development, and technology strategy.

E&IS, with headquarters in Nashua, New Hampshire, is a major defense electronics business with 17,000 employees in 16 U.S. states, the United Kingdom, and Israel.

Previously, Penkacik was chief technology officer for BAE Systems’ Information and Electronic Systems Integration sector in Nashua, and AS&T vice president for BAE Systems’ Information & Electronic Warfare Systems business unit. Before that, he led the advanced technology function for Sanders, a Lockheed Martin Company, which was purchased by BAE Systems in November 2000.

He joined Sanders in December 1997 from Lockheed Martin Electronics and Missiles in Orlando, Florida, where he had served as director of research and technology since December 1995. From 1984 to 1991, he was director of Advanced Systems for Litton Laser Systems. He subsequently held key management positions with I-Math Associates and Schwartz Electro-Optics, both Orlando-based companies, before rejoining Lockheed Martin Electronics and Missiles in June 1994.

He received a bachelor’s degree in electronics technology from the University of Central Florida in 1980. He completed additional graduate study at the University of Central Florida’s Center for Research in Electro-Optics and Lasers. He first joined the former Martin Marietta Electronics and Missiles Company in 1978 as an undergraduate cooperative education program student.

Aaron and his wife, Sherri, reside in Amherst, New Hampshire. They have three children.

The E&IS group designs, develops, and manufactures a wide range of electronic systems and subsystems for military and commercial applications. E&IS offers products and integration services, including electronic warfare and self-protection systems; surveillance and intelligence systems; platform systems; sensor and precision targeting systems; communication, navigation, identification, and reconnaissance systems; large-scale enterprise solutions and information management systems in support of the defense and intelligence communities; mission-specific software and geospatial exploitation products; advanced information technology; and rapid C4ISR prototyping, among others.
