Strategic Capability Solutions(SCS) has the role of being a catalyst to UK/RoW growth through identifying and developing strategic new business.

Using the strategic business development process, a derivative of BAE Systems' benchmark Life Cycle Management tools, the Solutions Development team formulates 'Themes' based around market segments or capability/technology areas. The Themes generate opportunities closely aligned to company strategy and easily transferable to the relevant Business to underpin future business growth

A key benefit of the process is the ability to develop and scope new business from ideas or wider areas of interest. It is also used to align the centrally-funded Research & Technology programme with areas of strong market potential for the company.

New opportunities and associated solutions remain focused on customer requirements, embrace the Defence Lines of Development and support the principles of Through Life Capability Management (TLCM). The pan-company approach also ensures customers are given access to and a deeper understanding of the global company, its capabilities and domain areas.

The Solutions Development team concentrates on:

  • Leading for strategic capability bids
  • Harmonising pan-company initiatives in key strategic business areas (eg Autonomy, Missile Defence)
  • Enhancing the Probability of Win for company-wide opportunities in the early phases of the project life cycle
