Armed Forces Day

Proud to support Armed Forces Day

On Saturday 27th June 2009, the UK's first National Armed Forces day will be held at the Historic Dockyard in Chatham, Kent. The event is a tribute to the continued service and sacrifices of the armed forces. It is expected to attract around 20,000 people including currently serving members and veterans.

BAE Systems, one of the main supporters and sponsors of the event will be hosting an exhibition on the day, showcasing vehicles such as the Warrior and Bulldog, as well as a Spearfish Torpedo. Staff from the local Rochester site will be on hand to provide visitors with an overview of the company's capabilities.

The Day will open with a parade led by a Royal Marines band, which will consist of contingents from the three armed forces. Activities for visitors include a mine detection game, an assault course and tours of a Royal Navy warship. There will also be exciting air displays from aircraft including the WWII Lancaster Bomber and the world famous Red Arrows who fly BAE Systems' Hawk aircraft.

BAE Systems is committed to supporting the armed forces and their families through sponsorships of events and donations to armed forces charities including SSAFA Force Help, the British Legion and the British Limbless Ex-Serviceperson's Association.
