Avionics support equipment

Avionics support equipment (ASE) is a system of commercial off-the-shelf instrumentation and peculiar interface hardware, integrated within an industry-standard architecture and driven by a commercial test executive/ATLAS software development environment. The systems provide intermediate level (line-replaceable unit) support for electronics on the F-2 aircraft.

The F-2 ASE systems are the result of a cooperative, requirements-driven process between the customer and ESPS to define the needed test capability for the selected LRUs. The system design leverages a core set of instrumentation, manufactured by a third party, with an enhanced set of augmentation equipment to provide the capabilities required for testing the assigned LRUs. The test system utilizes the TYX PAWS runtime system and ATLAS-based development environment.
