Q-HUD™ is a high-performance head-up display for commercial aircraft that is more reliable, competitively priced, and 50 percent smaller and lighter than current-generation systems. This low-profile unit fits the smaller cockpits of many business and regional jets, and offers the pilot greater range of head motion.
Based on a patented breakthrough in optical technology, Q-HUD manipulates light using holographic waveguides, effectively injecting images and data into display glass in the pilot’s forward field of view. This novel image generation concept eliminates the need for the complex, heavy, and expensive projection-lens configuration common to traditional HUDs that project onto the glass surface. This allows Q-HUD to deliver both acquisition and life-cycle cost savings.
